in 2007 the world will finally catch up to my love of soca music.

Despite all of the Kingston iconography in the music video, M.I.A's Boyz has Trinidad and Tobago all over it.

Or maybe I'm listening too much into it. As many of you know, I've been a huge fan of soca music for years now. The music is cheap, disposable, and unapologetically infectious.

All of the decent LPFM radio stations out here in deepest darkest Brooklyn are the ones that play soca and calypso. And it all sounds like this, only louder and faster.

'Boyz' sounds like it could well be the, um, 'Galang' of 2007 which could push people to discover the wonders of T&T. Perhaps. Here's hoping that this is the summer that the rest of the world catches the soca train.
