I'm in LA this week to hang with the folks at the Annenberg Center @ USC. I'm staying across the street from the Staples Center and almost went to the Clippers-Golden State game this afternoon. I hadn't realized that it was the matinee for the LA-Toronto game matchup in the evening.
After a afternoon of visiting friends and getting lost in LA (thx for the Google Maps assist, Callahassee) I fell asleep in my hotel room around 7.30 only to find myself wide awake and watching the second half of the Laker game a bit later.
Sometime during the 4th quarter as Kobe passed Elgin's record, it finally dawned on me to unmediate the experience and walk over to the Staples Center to see if I could get inside for the last six minutes (of course not.)
I'm not a Laker fan (I'm a Knicks survivor) and I love to hate Colorado's favorite tourist, but 81 points in a game is just ridiculous. In honor of this achievement, I will refer to my rental car, a Chevy Cobalt, as "Coby."
