crash.

lately, everything's been crashing around here. A friend at the day job crashed, in a sense. Because of it, I've been doing the work of two people and putting in upwards of 50 hours a week. Because I'm overworked, my body's been crashing and rebooting ever since I've been back from Peru, actually. I've had one bad cold, one evil stomach virus, and one wicked cough that I still can't get rid of. Hell, even that giant PSP down on Houston St crashed out again. Tricia spotted this out the sunroof as we were driving through Manhattan the other day:

don't look behind that curtain!

So I guess I'm glad I'm not the only one.

The metadaddy server hasn't crashed outright, but we're definitely putting a drain on her resources. unmediated, rocketboom, sheilacallaghan, magicbike, joshkinberg, 13p, and this site are all a little slow as we deal with server issues. rocketboom alone has tripled it's daily traffic in a matter of days. unmediated's traffic is steady, but since I can't access reblog, I can't, well, reblog which means i get unhappy emails asking why we're not posting.

Anyhoo, while searching for a new server for us, I came to realize that there aren't many ISPs who offer hosting plans with the kind of bandwidth overage rates that are friendly to videobloggers. Most videobloggers don't get RB sized traffic consistently, but when they get that spike, it'd be good to know it won't empty their pockets. I guess there's ourmedia, but everything there has to be non-commercial. So what if you're about to go quasi-commercial in order to create some kind of videoblog sustainability?
