Restoring Final Cut Pro machines using custom system restore disks.
Just had to restore a FCP system and reminded myself why apple software restore was such a great app. You can make a custom restore DVD by getting your computer to a Just Perfect state and burning the whole thing to disk with a copy of the Apple System Restore sw. So when you need to restore a computer, just boot from the DVD and hit restore. It'll put everything back into place, including applications, preferences, and serial numbers for whatever you have on the system (except Final Cut Pro - that must be reinstalled separately.)Check out the excellent articles at macosxlabs and bombich.com for detailed instructions.
Oh yeah, and having separate user logins for editors and administrators is key to troubleshooting whether something is a problem with a user or a problem with the whole system. Just FYI.
